About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Change Airports

Hello, i’m Anne, an Indonesian passport holder. It would be very helpful if you can inform me about this following situation:
I will fly with CEA from Seoul to Jakarta and my flight will transit in Shanghai Hongqiao (SHA) for about 4 hours 30 mins, and i’ll need to transfer to Shanghai Pudong (PVG) to catch my next flight. Do i meet the requirement for 24 hour visa free transit? And also can i have your opinion whether my itinerary is ideal or not? Thank you, have a good day😊

Anne, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. You will approach 24/144 hour visa free transit immediately upon your landing at Hongqiao airport and apply for a temporary entry permit. This application is for free and you will present your onward flight from Pudong airport. You will be definitely granted a permit.

Here I can see another problem... You should be aware that Hongqiao and Pudong are on the opposite sides of Shanghai city, so with all the formalities that include full entry and exit China, pick-up your luggage and then again check-in at Pudong and with a transfer time that you have count on at least 90 minutes everything appears to be very tight. It is doable, but your arriving flight has to be really on time. If you proceed with your itinerary, I advise you to take a direct airport bus, line 1 that departs from Hongqiao Terminal 2 and reaches Pudong airport quite fast.
