About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

HK > Chengdu > HK > back to US, is that alright for 144hr visa-free transit?

Planning to be travelling Chengdu by plane and will book a hotel stay for just 1- 2 days, is that alright for 144hr visa-free transit? since the 'C' place is not the 3rd country as wanna double check...thank you!

Hong Kong - Chengdu - Hong Kong is not a transit in China so it is not eligible for visa-free transit. It requires a Chinese visa.

However, you can easily make your journey eligible for 144 hours by simply introducing Macau into equation or to be clear, you can create your itinerary to look like this:

Hong Kong - Chengdu - Macau

When you arrive in Macau, you will easily reach Hong Kong from there. You can also reverse the journey by departing from Macau first. In any case, you can easily adapt this detail in order to enjoy 144 hour visa free transit.
