About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit visa

I am travelling on a UK passport and arrive in Shanghai and travel on to Taiwan on the same day - I don't think I need any visa.
I then return to Shanghai from Taiwan and plan to stay for 3 nights - can I apply for a transit visa?

Your first journey will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa.

Your second journey, under the condition that you leave Shanghai on a nonstop flight from China, but not returning to Taiwan, is eligible for 144 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. Please, just use correct terminology because this is 144 hour visa free transit, so there is no visa of any kind.
