144 Visa Does below qualify

The outbound is fine for 144 hours visa-free transit as long as your nationality qualifies. But the return requires a Chinese visa in advance. If you stop in both Beijing and Shanghai you are immediately limited to 24 hours visa-free transit. So you either need to get a visa or change your itinerary to only visit one of those cities.

5th Nov: London 1230 arrive Shanghai 0910 6th Nov / depart or Transit Airport 4 hours later 6th Nov 1310 Shanghai to Osaka.

But on Return can i do this on the 144 Hour Visa:
Tokyo 0900 15 Nov to Beijing 1230.
3 days Beijing, Bullet Train to Shanghai on 18th Nov
staying 2 days shanghai
20th Nov shanghai to London 1200.

15 Nov - Tokyo 0900 to Shanghai 1230.
Train Shanghai to Beijing (3 Days),
Train Back to Shanghai on 18th Nov - staying (2 days) in Shanghai
20th Nov Shanghai to London 1200.

I'm sorry but your changed itinerary will still stay both in Beijing and Shanghai, so it is not eligible.

The Pennies just dropped, i understand now. I think we will just do Shanghai and fly in and out of Shanghai. Basically the Free 144hour visas are valid only in certain areas not the whole of China.
