About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Philippine Passport Holder

Hi! I'm flying to Osaka this December and we have a 19h layover in Xiamen, China. I'm a philippine passport holder and I only have a Japan Visa. Am I eligible to get a 24h visa-free transit if I plan to go outside the airport during my layover? Thank you!

Your itinerary and your citizenship are definitely eligible for a 19 hours transit in Xiamen and you will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit scheme, so you do not need any kind of visa.

This is one detail and the second one, to be able to exit the airport and to spend some time in the city, you will have to apply for a temporary entry permit upon landing. This permit comes for free, but you should know that passengers traveling on 24 hour visa free transit do not have automatic right to exit the airport, but decision on this detail is brought by airport authorities on case by case circumstances. Since you have a very long transit time and if you support it with an accommodation booking confirmation, I would say that your chances could be very good to be granted a temporary entry permit.
