About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Cruise from Tianjin, Flight to Beijing

Hi, I’m looking at booking a cruise that departs from Tianjin but flights are from Manchester to Beijing, will I be able to take advantage of the 144 hour visa free transit and still be able to travel from Beijing to Tianjin to catch the cruise or do I need to fly to Tianjin?

You can take advantage of the 144-hour visa-free transit. Beijing and Tianjin are in the same transit region. Have fun~

I will just add that your cruise is not allowed to have its first port call in any mainland Chinese city or in other words, your cruise next port call in a city that is in some other country or in Taiwan or Hong Kong. For example, eligible itinerary is:

UK - Beijing (Tianjin) - Busan or
UK - Beijing (Tianjin) - Taiwan

But itinerary like this one:

UK - Beijing (Tianjin) - Shanghai

Is not eligible.

The cruise starts in Beijing and has no prior stops. It then goes on to sail straight to Japan

The cruise itinary is Tianjin - Japan - Vietnam and finally Singapore but our flights are to Beijing.

I’m seeing conflicting information where it says if your entertainment point is Beijing you need to leave from Beijing too but then Tianjin being in the same transit area confuses me

It is okay as Tianjin and Beijing are in the same transit area. The 144-hour visa-free transit is eligible when you arrive in Beijing and leave from Tianjin.
