About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 Hour Transit in Kunming

We are planning to travel from
Hongkong via Kunming to Laos by train.
Are we eligible for the 24 Hour free Visa? We would arrive in Kunming in the evening and leave the next morning. We learned that the 144 and 72 hour visa do not apply for Kunming railway ports.

I'm sorry but you have to obtain a Chinese visa in advance.

Would it change the situation if we change the transit as follows:
Entry from HongKong at Kunming Airpot (arrival at 2pm)
Leaving from Kunming Main Station via Train (departure at 8am next day)

Hello back,
thank you for your answer. I am not sure if my reply went through. Would we be eligible for a 24h free transit visa if we entered China via Kunming Airport and leave via train? We would stay in Kunming for maximum 18hours. Thank you again!

Hi, Antj, your changed itinerary is still not available. Train is not eligible for the visa-free transit.
