About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Tour with travel agents into Guangzhou

I came across a post that said tourists can have a visa free entry into Guangzhou for 6 days if joining a tour with a travel agency from Hong Kong. Please confirm and advise what are the conditions. Thank you.

Yes, and it is available to stay visa-free in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Zhaoqing, and Huizhou for at most 6 days.

I would advise you not to bother with travel agencies or similar... You should do just the following:

So, if you depart from Hong Kong and you want to return there, the the most logical itinerary is:

Hong Kong - Guangzhou - Macau (- back to Hong Kong from Macau)

There are, however, several conditions:

- You have to fly from Hong Kong to Guangzhou because only the arrivals by air to Guangdong province are eligible for 144 hour visa free transit.
- You will have to take a ferry from Shekou port in Shenzhen to Macau. Also, keep in mind that you will have to book online, in advance your ferry ticket to Macau through TurboJet website, print out your ticket, have it with you and in the end take exactly that ferry you have bought your ticket for.

At the time of check-in in Hong Kong, you will declare that you are traveling to Macau via Guangdong province using 144 hour visa free transit and you will present them your ferry ticket. The same thing you will do upon your landing in Guangzhou. While in Guangdong province, you are allowed to travel around and explore the entire province. Basically, this is it.
