About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 hours visa free transit

I would like to go to south korea on 15.10.2023 with four members of my family for 10 days. I am planning to go by china eastern airways and its need a layover in KMG for 4 hours and NKG for 7 hours. Total layover time in china is 11 hours. At the time of my return I have a layover in PKX and KMG for 12 hours. Can I get a 24 hours visa free transit?

Yes, you can. Your itinerary is eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa.

However, you should count hours in a correct way and not the one you have presented.

Total transit time in China is counted from your first scheduled landing in mainland China, in your case in KMG until your last scheduled departure from mainland China, in your case from NKG. In other words, it is not just the time spent at the airports, but also the time spent in flight. So, as I have written, the best and the most precise way is the time, from the first landing until the last departure. The number of stops is practically unlimited under 24 hours visa free transit, but the calculation has to be always up to 24 hours. In your case, you are fine to go.
