24 hour stay

I am trying to make sure that everything is in order before I leave. My visa status was changed by my employer and I literally had 4 days to book a ticket. I got a flight for the 5th Sept at 8:40pm from Naniing to Beijing. I will have a layover in Beijing until 8:45am on the 6th. My humanitiarian visa expires on the 5th but I will be on overnight layover in Beijing on the 6th. Would the 24 hour visa free exemption hold up just so that I can get to leave? Or would I have to follow more steps to get an additional visa?
