About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 hours visa free transit frequency

I am travelling from Hungary to Bangkok on 15th dec 2023 and back from Bangkok to Hungary on 4th jan 2023 in both cases with China airlines with 15 and 19 hours layover in Beijing. Can I get the 24 hour free visa twice for both layovers? Thank you very much in advance.

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit both ways, there is no doubt about it. In other words, you do not need any kind of visa. Also, you should use correct terminology because this is not 24 hour free visa, but 24 hour visa free transit, so there is no visa at all.

Now, since your layovers are long, you can apply for a temporary entry permit upon your landing in Beijing to have an overnight in the hotel. Here, you have to know that, although a temporary entry permit is free of any charge, its issuing depends on airport official sole discretion. In other words, you do not need a visa, but you can never know if you will be allowed to exit the airside airport zone. Your chances to do that are high, but as I have already written, you can never know until your entry permit is granted or not. Hopefully, it will be.
