A friend overstayed his visa in China. Now facing a fine of 8,950 dollars or 6months in jail.

¥10000 is the maximum amount to be fined. Is it his first overstay or he overstayed previously and how long. All these are taken into consideration when they decide on the kind of punishment to be meted out.0
