About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Amsterdam - Shanghai (3 nights) - Bali - Singapore

Hello,
I want to fly from Amsterdam to Shanghai Pudong (KLM) and after a 4 days(3 nights) stay I want to fly to Bali and after that Singapore. I can choose from a direct flight with China Eastern to Denpasar or Xiamen airlines (Shanghai Hongqiao) with a 2 hour transit at Xiamen Gaoqi (XMN) or China Southern (Shanghai Hongqiao) with a transit of 2,5 hours at Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN).
Would this trip qualify for the 144 hour visa? Because of the term non-stop I’m doubtful. And besides a negative home RAT test what else shouldn’t I forget for Shanghai / China? Thanks in advance.

The only eligible route in your case would be:

Amsterdam - Shanghai - Bali

All other, with stops in other parts of mainland China are not eligible for 144 hour visa free transit.

The rule for 144 hour visa free transit is simple and it requires that your immediate stops before and after your mainland Chinese destination have to be in two different countries or eligible territories (eligible territories: Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau).

Beside the negative home RAT you are advised to fill out the Chinese Health Declaration Form. Both of these details are less and less taken care of by Chinese authorities, but you should do it for your peace of mind.

Thanks for the swift reply. So a transit is only possible in China if it’s the eligible territories or if the transit is outside China like Kuala Lumpur or Singapore? Because the direct flight is really expensive at the moment. Or do you have other advice if I want to travel from Shanghai to Bali?

Both are okay. It suggested to transfer in Hong Kong or other countries since no transfer is available in Shanghai nearby area.
