Select Seat for Train ticket booking

Are seats booked together usually selected next to each other?
If I book 4 soft sleeper tickets can I assume I get 4 beds in one compartment?

Yes, it is usually the case.
Even though, it is suggested to tell the people you want seats next to each other and sleepers in one compartment.
