About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Is VISA required?

Hi, I am holding a Singapore passport traveling to Hong Kong from Singapore in Sep 2023 (two way air ticket from SG>HK).

I will be taking the train from HK to Shenzhen for 3D2N and will also be taking a ferry from HK to Macau for 3D2N during my stay in HK. Do I need VISA application?

Yes, you need a visa to enter Shenzhen. No visas are needed for HK and Macao.

Thanks Kevin for the reply. For the VISA can I apply it at ShenZhen on arrival at the train station?

Sorry but no. This is a special case but both exit procedures from HK and entry procedures into Shenzhen will be handled in HKWest Kowloon Station before you are allowed to get onboard. That's why you need a visa ready to take the train.

If you want to apply for the VOA, you need to travel by ferry or bus to the boarder checking point. Ferry to Shekou is better, because it is less crowded there.

For the train we will be taking the MTR to Luohu instead of Kowloon. Can we do the VOA there? Thanks!

Oh yes, Luohu is one of the ports issuing VOA. But it is quite busy there, so go as early as possible.
