What are all the types of foreigner ID that can be used to purchase train tickets and travel in China?

Passport and Permanent China Residence Permit issued by China government.

Only passport, I have a permanent Chinese resident permit and it does not help

Boger, you need to verify your resident permit at one of the ticket counters, then you can use it to buy the ticket and take the train.
