No seat number

I read online that I need a seat number for my flight out of China. My airline out of China doesn't give out seat numbers until 24 hours before departure. This will be after my departure date to Shanghai. Should I worry about this or will my booking confirmation with the date of departure be okay? Also is this the only pre-departure form that needs filling out ?
