About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

GER - SZ - MC

We plan to fly to Hong Kong by plane and travel directly from the airport (without imigration) by ferry to Shenzhen. From Shenzhen we then want to travel to Macau, again by ferry.

Is that possible with the free 72h on arrival visa for the Guangdong/Shenzhen region?

No, it is not possible to use any kind of visa free transit scheme in this case. The only way how to use visa free transit scheme (144 hour visa free transit and not 72) is to fly into Guangdong province (to Guangzhou and Shenzhen) and exit to a third country or eligible territory (Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau)...

Anyway, you can rely on 5 days Shenzhen visa on arrival. You can really take a ferry from Hong Kong airport Skypier directly to Shekou port in Shenzhen and apply there for 5 days Shenzhen visa on arrival at the visa office. If you are German citizens, the price for a visa is 168 CNY, paid in cashless form.

You should be just aware of the opening hours of Shekou visa office: 9:00 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 16:30.

After your stay in Shenzhen you can freely take a ferry to Macau.
