A procedure to obtain a 5 days Shenzhen visa on arrival is quite easy and straightforward. You should arrive at one of several eligible border crossings (Luohu and Huanggang overland and Shekou by taking a ferry from Hong Kong or Macau) where a simple form will be filled out, payed a fee and the officials will take a photo. After a required waiting time, a visa will be granted and a person is allowed to enter Shenzhen, but she/he has to remain only within the Shenzhen city administrative borders. During the 5 days time frame, a person can be enjoy her/his time and also meet business partners or participate in fairs or similar. After the time spent in Shenzhen, she/he can leave Shenzhen toward Hong Kong, Macau or any country by taking a nonstop flight out of Shenzhen.
Another and more recommended option is to apply for a business visa based on an invitation of a Shenzhen based commercial entity. Such a business visa will not limit a visitor just to Shenzhen city limits, but she/he would be able to travel in more relaxed way and also visit some other parts of China.
