About:China Visa on Arrival

Word of advice to anyone seeking to apply for VOA at Shenzhen Airport. It doesn’t seem to work that way. I was stopped at Singapore Airport and was told they would let me through only if I was going to do a 144. I had to purchase a ticket on the spot to a third country before I could proceed.

This is weird. Also, this is the first information of this kind. In any case, thank you for your contribution because from now we will suggest others not to try to obtain a Shenzhen VOA by arriving directly at the airport. Thank you, once again.

Thank you for your info.

It's quite confusing also that Shenzhen Bao'an airport is a check point for VOA and I do have a direct flight to there, but seems like people are saying you cant fly in to get VOA.

Is it about "You are not entering form Hongkong or Macau" that they cannot grant VOA 5 days to you?

When I arrived at Bao’an, I tried my luck with the VOA (reason being that with the 144, I need to depart at an inconvenient time and to a third location), the Customs staff do not seem to know that there is a facility like that. They kept asking if I was going to do a 144. In the end, I gave up and went in via 144. I think it may be that the VOA is available if you try to get into SZ via ferry or land points, but not the airport.
