About:China Visa on Arrival

VOA in Hong Kong airport obtainable?

Hi i am German citizen, would fly to Hong Kong with my kids, we would like to visit our family in Guangzhou, could we get VOA in Hong Kong airport or must we go to Luo Hu/ She Kou for the VOA ?

Unfortunately, there is no VOA for visits to Guangzhou. If you intend to visit Guangzhou you have to obtain a visa in advance or rely on 144 hour visa free transit.

To be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit, you will have to take a plane from Hong Kong to Guangzhou and later travel to Macau by ferry from Shekou port in Shenzhen. The ticket for the ferry has to be booked in advance and printed out. You have to take exactly that ferry you have bought your ticket for.
