About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Multi-City booking

I've just found out about this option. Am I correct in thinking I can make a multi-city booking and be allowed to transit visa free for 3-4 days? For example: 10th of May Hanoi -> Shanghai. 14th of May Shanghai -> Amsterdam. I hold an EU passport, so I would just arrive in Shanghai, fill out the form and can then enter?

Yes, Susie, your assumption is correct. Your itinerary:

Hanoi - Shanghai - Amsterdam

With stay in Shanghai from 10 to 14 May is perfectly covered by 144 hour visa free transit and you will be allowed to exit the airport, stay in accommodation of your choice and to explore the wider Shanghai area as you wish. The area allowed to explore consists of Shanghai and Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.

The details you should take care of are, your itinerary is not allowed to have any additional landing within mainland China and you will have to bring a negative PCR / antigen test not older than 48 hours at the time of boarding of your China bound flight.
