About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Singapore - Shanghai - Tokyo

Hi,

I have a flight from Singapore to Shanghai Pudong, and another flight from Hongqiao to Tokyo some 8 hours later. Am I still eligible for the 72 Hour Visa-Free transit or the 24 Hour one? What do I need to do before going on the trip?

Since your stay in mainland China will be less than 24 hours, you are eligible for 24 hours visa free transit.

At the time being you need a PCR or antigen test not older than 48 hours at the time of boarding to Shanghai bound flight. Also, you will have to present your flight ticket for Tokyo when you approach the transit desk at Shanghai airport. You will then ask for temporary entry permit and after your visa free transit is granted, you will be allowed to leave the airport and to transfer to another one.
