About:China Tourist Visa

Do I need to travel to meet Chinese Consulate in person?

Houston Chinese Consulate is closed, according to my research online. I would prefer to go there, rather than drive to Dallas or Chicago or NY. Are there other possibilities besides these locations? Booking flights, etc, before I meet with Consulate (if this is necessary) would be costly if I had to cancel these, plus my trips to Chinese Consulates. Please advise if there is a travel agency or agent of some sort that I could use to help me with these issues. I plan a trip, as tourist, in March, April or May.

China tourist visa is still unavailable. That means China has not opened its border to tourists yet. Sorry for that:(
