residence permit and travel within China

I am and American getting a family reunion temp residence permit  in Hunan. I used to have a resident permit in Guangzhou for work. Now I am retired. the first permit they will only issue for 3 months than I can apply for one year permit. Once I get the permit am I free to travel within China? or do I have to spend a certain amount of time in Hunan?

Tony, after you get the temporary residence permit, you are free to travel within China. However, before the Covid is gone, I don't advise you to travel too frequently.
