Time to enter China after visa approved

Hi - the Visa for China states that you have either 3,6,12 months to enter the country, however, I'm wondering how this is determined? Can you ask during your visa application for one of those month timeframes to enter? Or is it automatically prescribed? Thanks.

Hi Wolf, the number of entry, validity period and length of stay of a visa are determined by different purposes of application. You can ask about a specific time frame during the application process, but the final decision is up to the embassy.
