About:Marriage Registration in China

Marriage abroad and Hukou

Hello!

I (German, living in Germany) am going to marry my Chinese partner (living in China) in July. We will get married in Denmark, get the Apostille and the legalisation of the marriage certificate from the Chinese Embassy in Copenhagen.

For me to apply for Q visa afterwards he also needs my name in his Hukou.

Is it possible to just go to his city bureau (in his hometown) with our legalised marriage certificate and my passport copy to get his Hukou updated?

yes , marriage certificate must be authenticated from the department of Foreign affairs(how your country call it) after that authentication again in Chinese embassy in your country then travel to China and register your marriage
