my bf wants to teach english in china for a year what do i need to do to be able to go with him

I’m afraid you cannot go with him directly for there is no proper visa for you to apply. Two possible ways for you to consider: first, find a job in China by yourself and apply for a work visa; second, if your bf will enter china on a work visa and apply for a permanent residence permit successfully, and you two get married, and then you may apply for a Q visa. The first is more feasible. Good luck!
