Handing over passport to PSB for Z Visa (Residence Permit) renewal

I have been scheduled to hand over my passport to the local Public Security Bureau (PSB) for my visa renewal this Wednesday, July 22nd. In these uncertain times, is there any additional precautions I should take?

Background: I am a teacher at a university in Sichuan and just finished my first year here. I came over on a Z visa which was then replaced (within the first 30 days, as required) with a one-year Temporary Residence Permit. That expires Aug 31.

You don't need to take any additional precautions if you did not leave China during the epidemic period.
