What happens if you double your visa/residence permit

Imagine a situation where I stay in China on family residence permit (wife/husband is from China). It allows you to live in China, but not work.
Now what happens with that residence permit if:

1. I start to work for a company and obtain a work visa/residence permit and work permit. Does my family residence permit is automatically cancelled; or I can keep both (i.e. in case I leave my job and want to stay in China)
2. If I work for a company from abroad and would like to conduct business meeting in China. Do I need to somehow obtain a business visa, besides my residence permit? Or can I conduct business meetings just based on my family residence permit?

Who answers this questions ? :) I've been planning some trips through this website in the past; and comments are sometimes useful as well; but never knew who writes here

1) your family-based residence permit (plus whatever valid visa you still have) will be cancelled upon receiving a work-based residence permit.
2) immigration does not care at all whether one will be using their non-business visa to conduct business activities. They only care whether you will be doing paid work while in Mainland China, in which case both a work permit and a work-based residence permit are required. The same goes for a holders of a family-based residence permit.
