Stay in China on residence permit but without work visa.

I have recently quit my job in China and had a Temporary Residence Permit (1 year). My work visa has been cancelled by my employer, but my residence permit is still valid for another 6 months. I asked them what the latest date is that I need to leave China and my HR told me that the residence permit will remain valid even though the work visa has been cancelled. Therefore, I am able to legally stay in China until the residence permit runs out only I cannot work. Is it correct that if my work visa is cancelled that my residence permit can still remain valid for the remainder of the term?

Fai, I'm afraid not, actually one should leave China within 30 days after the work visa has been cancelled.
