Change work and visa

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have a question about my visa.
I’m currently in Chengdu, China working for a well-known school as a teacher. I have a work visa that expires in September.
I would like to move to Beijing and work with my friend, and at the weekend do part-time online teaching for a company that said they can provide a business visa.
Do you know if I can transfer from the work visa to the business visa without having to first return to my home country the UK? (I asked the online company about transferring my work visa to them but they said that’s quite difficult though I’m not sure if that’s the case). - they also said I don’t need to wait until I get the new visa to move to Beijing (but I thought perhaps I might have to do things at the PSB in Chengdu).

Any advice you have on that would be great! Thank you.

Yes, it's possible to transfer from the work visa to the business visa in China, but the company is right, it is not an easy thing. You can go to Beijing before your get a new visa.

Thank you for your response. But what makes you a say it's possible to apply for the business visa within China? When I asked that at the Beijing visa office, they said they can't - can only apply for the business visa outside of China.
