TWO-V entry into Shanghai overnight

US citizen arrives from LAX at PuDong. Overnight in Shanghai hotel. Depart Shanghai next day in less than 24 hours on cruise ship to Japan. Do I qualify for TWO-V overnight in Shanghai? Paperwork before trip?
