About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Is a Visa required for a 24 hour stay in Shanghai?

We are flying into Shanghai via Singapore from Australia with Australian Passports in May 2020. We are joing a cruise ship leaving Shanghai, less than 24 hours after our arrival. What type of vis would be required?

You do not need a visa if your ship's first port of call is outside Mainland China and your Singapore-Shanghai flight is nonstop. You just show the airline your cruise vouchers when checking-in and tell them that you will be in transit without a visa, and follow the signs of "visa-free transit" after you arrive.

Thank you for the info. Because of Coronavirus outbreak on mainland China, the cruise is now departing form Japan so no visas needed anyway.
