usa to shanghai to macao returning to atlanta in 5 days via shanghai

Hello - I am traveling to Macao from Atlanta USA via Shanghai, I intend to stay in Shanghai for 36 hours then fly to Macao. I will be returning to Atlanta in 5 days via Shanghai.Will this qualify for a Chinese transit visa in both directions?Thank you

Yes. However the correct term is visa-free transit and it is better to use that term, or Delta's ground agent would be confused.

Macau is a third country for customs purposes and the 6-day period resets once you have left Shanghai to a third country.
