About:Folk Custom Museum

i HAVE A USA OUTDATED PASSPORT CONTAINING A VALID CHINESE VISA

I have been told that Chinese immigration will accept the outdated passport with a still valid Chinese visa, and a new current passport.
Is this a valid option for travel to/from china?
