About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Ticket

On of the criteria for the 72h visa free transit is "an onward ticket with confirmed seat are needed". At time of arrival in China, I won't have a reserved seat as boarding is only open 48h before departure. I saw a ticket number is sufficient. Is it also OK to have the itinerary reference number?

This is just "a bit" clumsy definition that wants to tell you that you need a confirmed ticket. There are people flying on so called standby tickets and this clumsy definition is a protection from the use of such tickets. In other words, just disregard this detail with the seat confirmed. You will just print out your confirmed flight tickets and bring those printouts with you. You will also make a booking of your accommodation for at least for the first overnight and you will also print this out. Beside the mentioned, you just need to enjoy your travel :)
