Getting a Visa in Canada

Anyone in the last year had experience getting a Chinese Visa in Canada? Apparently I am to fly to Ottawa to get fingerprints! I live in PEI and this would be an additional $3000 for my family. There are only 5 centres in all of Canada? I feel like there has to be another option. Anyone been in this situation? Can I apply during a 144 Visa free stay in Shanghai? Or on arrival? Thank you

Yes, if you really need a China visa, you have to go to the visa center in Ottawa to apply for it. Therefore, if you want to save money, you should carefully arrange your route, like Canada - Shanghai - Hong Kong, to be eligible for the 144h visa-free transit.
