About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Seat number

Hi,

I have a flight from London to Beijing on Wednesday and from Beijing to Seoul on Saturday. I believe I meet the criteria for a 72/144h visa free transit. However, one of the criteria is: ticket to a third country with confirmed seat and date. I will only be able to check in on my flight to Seoul 48h before so I won't have a confirmed seat (number) for my next flight at arrival in Beijing. Does that mean I am not eligible for a 72/144h visa free transit?

Its ok. terminology needs to be updated. They don't mean boarding pass or seat number. You need printout of itinerary including the 16 digit ticket number to show that you have confirmed ticket. You just cant travel as standby like someone who works for the airline. Many airlines do not give seat number in advance so china doesn't care about that. They just want to be sure you plan to leave.

Hi, thank you for your reply. What do you mean with 16 digit ticket number? How can I get that? I have my itinerary with all my flights on it but don't have my ticket number. I believe I will only be have to have my ticket number when I check in. Would the itinerary (+reference of the itinerary) be sufficient?

I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

Thanks,
Wouter

Get your airline or travel agent to provide the ticket number (usually 13 or 14 digits). You do not get this when you check-in. Technically the six-character booking reference is not sufficient as it is not proof that the itinerary has been ticketed; only a ticket number suffices for this.
