About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hi, we will be cruising into Shanghai in April 23, arriving at 7pm and leaving April 24 at 4pm

That is a total of 21 hours, but over 2 days. We sail on to Japan from Shanghai. Are we still eligible for the 24 hr free Visa?

Jacqueline, could you, please, tell us what will be your port of call, immediately before Shanghai?

OK, so your itinerary is:

Hong Kong - Shanghai - Japan

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and it really doesn't matter whether you will stay in Shanghai during the parts of two calendar days. In other words, you don't need any kind of visa. You will be allowed to exit the ship on a temporary entry permit and you will be able to explore the city being it on your own or with an organized tour.
