About:China Visa Application in UK

My son (age 12) is visiting China to see school friend

My son has been invited to Shanghai to stay with a school friend. He is 12 years old and will be travelling with his friend and his friend's parents, but without me or his father.
Do we need any particular documentation or procedures in order to have this authorised?
With thanks.

Yes, you both need to provide a parental consent consent letter, a copy of your passports, and your son's birth certificate.
