About:China Customs Declaration

Do I need to declare more than $1000 if I am staying less than 15 days?

I am bringing more than $1000 (but less than $5000) into China and leaving the country in less than 15 days. I read somewhere there may be a limit of $1000 of foreign currency in this situation. Could you please confirm if that is true? Thanks!

The followings need to be declared according to the China Customs Luggage Declaration Form when exiting the country:
1. Foreign currency above 5,000 US dollars or equivalent, or 20,000 CNY
