About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Hi. We will be on CMV Columbus docking in Tianjin on 17th March from 0600-2000.

How do we apply for this visa please? Also any recommendation what to do with our time in port as we have already spent a week in Beijing. Many thanks.

The first and the most important detail is that your itinerary is eligible for 24 hour visa free transit because your immediate ports of call before and after Tianjin are Kagoshima in Japan and Jeju in South Korea. In other words, you don't need any kind of visa for this short visit to wider Beijing area.

If you have already explored Beijing before, then you can dedicate your day to Tianjin because it has several nice attractions that can keep you occupied. You can explore the colonial architecture represented in churches and literally thousands of villas, Italian street, but also typical Chinese Ancient cultural street to see what China and its Tianjin once were. You will encounter a cathedral, Chinese temples, but also a Great mosque, one of the largest in this part of China. You can enjoy an evening short cruise on Haihe river that represents the backbone of Tianjin city. Beside this, you can have a meal in Nanshi food street and also a visit to Tianjin museum is highly recommended.

To be allowed for this visa free transit option, you will just apply for a temporary entry permit upon your arrival in Tianjin. Maybe, but just maybe, you will be able to do some formalities on board the ship, but if this is not going to be a case, you will apply for the mentioned permit at relevant 24/144 hour visa free transit counter at cruise terminal. This is absolutely free of charge and as I have previously assured you, you are eligible for this visa free transit option. Please, have in mind that this is not a visa, but just a permit that is granted to eligible passengers for their short visit to a particular portion of China.
