Shanghai to Hong Kong - Visa Free Travel Possible?

Hello :)

We are flying into Shanghai and will spend a few days there without a visa with the 144 hour rule, arriving 31.12 and would leave 5.1.

If we take the direct (18hr) train from Shanghai to Hong Kong will this be acceptable for the visa-free restrictions? Or do we have to fly out of Shanghai again?

We have qualifying EU Passports.

Thank You!!

Thank you for your inquiry.

According to the policy, a direct flight into Shanghai and the direct overnight sleeper train from Shanghai to HK can fit the policy of 144 hours visa free policy. However, for the train ticket, you cannot get the real paper ticket at the time you land at Shanghai as the paper ticket can only be delivered to your hotel. We can offer you invoice and paper ticket copy, however, it cannot be 100% guarantee if the officer will accept them as efficient evidence. Generally speaking, taking a flight would be safer. Hope this information can help you.
