About:Shanghai 15-day Visa-free Policy for Cruise Tour Groups

Can we use the 15 day visa free on our cruise with Royal Carribean. We are Uk residents.

We fly from London to Shanghai and spend two nights in a hotel. We then depart on a cruise around Japan for 8 days and sail back to Shanghai. We have one more night in Shanghai before we fly back to London.

According to the rule, you should enter Shanghai by cruise ship and exit from China by the same cruise ship. So I think you are not eligible for it.

You are not eligible for 15 day visa free policy, but you are definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai twice.

If your itinerary is:

London - Shanghai - Japan - Shanghai - London

And your flights to and from Shanghai don't have any additional landings of any kind within mainland China and in Japan, you are definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai twice and you don't need any kind of visa. Please, just print out your flight and cruise tickets and your accommodation bookings in Shanghai. This will be just fine for your visa free travel.
