Igal, is Shanghai the firsrt port of call in mainland China? And do you leave China by the same cruise? If yes, as long as you book a tour for Shanghai from a travel agency in China, you can enjoy the visa-free access.

It's ok that you have stopovers in mainland China after Shanghai. If you have booked a tour for Shanghai in advance, visa is not required.
