About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Looking to travel from US to Hong Kong, return to US via Shanghai (3-5 day stay). Do I need a visa?

Looking to grave, from USA to Hong Kong. On return trip back to USA, stop over for 3-5 days in Shanghai...do I need a visa for China?

No as long as your only travel through Hong Kong on the way there and non-stop from Shanghai to the USA (or via another country that is not Hong Kong)
