DO I QUALIFY FOR A VISA FREE TRANSIT AND IS THERE A COST INVOLVED

I am arriving at the port in Shanghai from Sasebo Japan in Feb 2020 at the end of a cuise. I will spend less than 72 hours in Shanghai before departing to Singapore. Do I need to apply for a transit visa in advance and what is the cost

Margaret, if you are from one of the 53 countries eligible for the 144h visa-free transit and you don't have layovers in other mainland Chinese cities, you can enjoy the 144h visa-free transit in Shanghai so you don't need a visa.
