This is all fine and within visa free transit regulations. However, here are the conditions your itinerary has to fulfill:
- Your flight from Europe to Shanghai is not allowed to have any additional stop within mainland China and in Japan of any kind
- Your cruise is not allowed to have its first port of call, immediately after Shanghai, in mainland Chinese port
- Your cruise is not allowed to have its last port of call, immediately before Shanghai, in mainland Chinese port
- Your flight from Shanghai to Europe is not allowed to have any additional stop within mainland China and in Japan of any kind
If the above conditions are fulfilled, you will be definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai area during your first stop and for 24 hour visa free transit during your second stop. The reason for this is in the fact that your entire transit time in Shanghai during your second stop will be less than 24 hours. Anyway, this detail is not of particular importance for you because you will travel absolutely visa free.
By the way, you are advised to use correct terminology because this is not "144 hours visa", but 144 hour visa free transit or in other words a transit without a visa. There is no visa of any kind at all.
