About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

back to back visa-free transit?

Is it possible to have a 72-hour visa-free transit in Shanghai and then another in Beijing? Following this we are traveling to Hong Kong, but we have three days in each city.

Each transit is evaluated separately. You cannot travel between Shanghai and Beijing on a single transit. You need to go non-stop to a third country first before going to a different Chinese city.

USA > Shanghai > Beijing > Hong Kong is limited to the 24 hour direct transit.

USA > Shanghai > Hong Kong is eligible for 144 hour visa free transit.
Then you can do Hong Kong > Beijing > USA as another 144 hour transit.
